VERDENSBALLETTEN IN SWITZERLAND
Ballet & opera under the open sky
After a sensational premiere in 2025, Ballet Sauvage is back in the beautiful city of Lausanne. And this year we’re adding another venue: the stunning Rieterpark at Museum Rietberg in Zurich.
Ballet Sauvage (French for “wild ballet”) is an international open-air performance where ballet, opera and classical music come together in extraordinary natural surroundings. Featuring artists from some of the world’s leading ballet companies and opera houses, Ballet Sauvage transforms remarkable outdoor locations into unique performance spaces, where nature itself becomes part of the stage.
An unforgettable evening where world-class artistry meets the open sky.
A carefully curated gala program
An elegant mix of beloved classics such as Sleeping Beauty, Giselle and Manon alongside contemporary pieces and works created especially for Ballet Sauvage. Tenor Jens-Christian Wandt hosts the evening, with Steven McRae leading an international ensemble of dancers and musicians.

World-class ballet stars – led by Steven McRae
A magical evening of ballet, opera and classical music, where a selection of the world’s greatest ballet stars take to the stage.
The evening will be led by legendary dancer Steven McRae – winner of the Prix de Lausanne and special guest at the competition’s 50th anniversary gala in 2023 and part of the competition’s jury in 2026. McRae has brought together the biggest stars from The Royal Ballet of London, English National Ballet and Ballett Zürich, among others, who will perform alongside award-winning Scandinavian opera singers and musicians to create an unforgettable evening.
The program offers classical ballet, modern classics, and brand new choreography created especially for this performance.
A magical evening. A spectacular scene. A lifetime experience.
About the collaboration
The production is the result of an international collaboration between Ballet Sauvage - The World Ballet, ASDAC - Association Suisse-Danemark pour les Arts et la Culture, the Danish Consulate in Lausanne, Museum Rietberg and Centre Général Guisan.

All the artists managed to give us an unforgettable and beautiful experience - even in the pouring rain.
An absolutely fantastic experience. Sublime musicians and a really good mix of dance, song and music. I floated home on a little pink cloud.
It's impressive that Verdensballetten can get better every year. Every year the amazing dancers and musicians know how to innovate and improve. Thank you, thank you!
The first time I experienced a performance that touched me so deeply. An amazing total experience. THANK YOU.
Love the split between the classic and the modern - the mix of music, dance and song.
