Ballet in Lausanne – Centre Général Guisan
For the first time, Verdensballetten will dance in the beautiful Swiss town of Pylly near Lausanne.
We have gladly accepted an invitation from ASDAC – Association Suisse-Danemark pour les Arts et la Culture and look forward to setting the stage in the beautiful park of the Danish Consulate, where Lac Léman and the French Alps will be the breathtaking backdrop of this special performance.
THE SHOW
With Lausanne as the latest stop on Verdensballetten’s European summer tour, we celebrate both the local and the global, and welcome you to a magical experience under the stars.
Audiences can look forward to an exclusive evening where Verdensballetten presents prima ballerinas and solo dancers from some of the world’s finest ballet companies, usually only seen on major international stages. The dancers are accompanied on stage by internationally recognized opera singers and classical musicians.
A RING IS CLOSED
Verdensballetten Artistic Director Steven McRae has a special relationship with Lausanne.
In 2003, at the age of 17, he won the prestigious Prix de Lausanne, which enabled him to join the Royal Ballet School in London. The following year he joined the Royal Ballet, and in 2009 was appointed principal dancer.
In 2023 he took part in the 50th anniversary gala of the Prix de Lausanne – Gala of Stars – at the Théâtre de Beaulieu in Lausanne.
A CAREFULLY CURATED GALA
The program is an exquisite potpourri of excerpts from classic ballets such as Sleeping Beauty, Giselle and Manon, but also modern dance and newly choreographed pieces created especially for Verdensballetten. A program that both moves and impresses.
The artistic framework is set by tenor and emcee Jens-Christian Wandt, who with entertaining anecdotes about the show’s repertoire ties it all together into a complete evening of the highest caliber.
In the interplay between wind and weather and art, and with nature as a backdrop, we create a completely new ballet experience characterized by the special soul and character of this place.
