ABOUT BALLET SAUVAGE

Ballet Sauvage was born in Skagen, Denmark’s northernmost town, where sea, sky and art come together in a landscape of extraordinary beauty. Inspired by the power of nature and a desire to present classical performing arts in a new way, the concept was created to bring ballet, opera and classical music beyond the walls of the traditional theatre.

What began as a unique artistic experiment has grown into an international cultural event, bringing together leading dancers, opera singers and musicians from some of the world’s most prestigious companies and institutions.

Each performance is carefully curated for its location, allowing the surrounding landscape, architecture and atmosphere to become an integral part of the experience.

At the heart of Ballet Sauvage is the belief that world-class art should be both exceptional and accessible. Audiences are invited to experience classical performance in a relaxed and welcoming setting, whether they are devoted ballet lovers or discovering the art form for the very first time.

Under the artistic direction of Steven McRae, Principal Dancer with The Royal Ballet, and Danish opera singer Jens-Christian Wandt, each programme combines celebrated classical works with contemporary creations and new choreography, creating a dialogue between tradition and innovation.

Today, Ballet Sauvage continues to connect extraordinary artists, remarkable places and diverse audiences. More than a performance, it is a celebration of art, nature and human connection — where world-class artistry unfolds beneath the open sky.
