Verdensballetten invites you to a very special Ballet Salon with one of the most sought-after and influential choreographers of our time – English Christopher Wheeldon. This is a rare and unique opportunity to get up close and personal with an artist who is today considered one of the world’s greatest in ballet.

In a lively conversation with Danish ballet critic, writer and editor Alexander Meinertz, Wheeldon opens the door to his world. Come and get a unique insight into his artistic universe, his thoughts on choreography, the relevance of ballet today and a life dedicated to dance.

Verdensballetten has featured several of Wheeldon’s works over the years – this summer, audiences can experience the pas de deux from “An American in Paris” on tour.
This salon brings the audience even closer to the man behind the works.

Alexander Meinertz says:

“Christopher Wheeldon is, in my opinion, one of the 2-3 most important ballet choreographers in the world today. I’m looking forward to talking to him about his roots in the English tradition, his encounter with American ballet and how it has shaped his modern, lyrical expression. We’ll also talk about the future of ballet – and whether it’s irrelevant today.”
